Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a well-known Indian actress, best known for her starring roles in the films Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Hing Koun..! She started her career in the late 1980s, and rose to fame with her appearance in the film Tezaab where she was a part of the cast alongside veteran actor Anil Kapoor. In the next film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she took up dancing from an early age. At the age of 16 She began to act and suffered for several years due to the fact that her initial films ended up failing. Her career eventually took off and she was able to establish herself as one of the best actors in the Indian film industry. Following her wedding, she took some time out from acting, before returning. Recently, she had an important role in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated 15 times in the Filmfare Awards. She won eight of the awards. Dixit was also awarded the Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian award in India. The actress is known for her social works as well.
